Over the last decade and a half, four of the five major nuclear test reactors have either shut down or become heavily restricted, severely limiting the nuclear industry's ability to test and commercialize new nuclear technology (materials, fuels, coolants, etc.). At Irradia, we have found a way to fill this supply gap and deliver these irradiation test services at a fraction of the cost and complexity that they have traditionally been provided at. To achieve this, we are partnering with SHINE Technologies, a well-established player (~400 employees, ~$850m in financing) in the nuclear sector. Leveraging their team and technology, we are building this venture off of already developed and commercially successful technology.

Our founding team includes the CTO of the U.S. Advanced Test Reactor, the Director of Science at MIT's Nuclear Test Reactor Laboratory, and the ex-SVP of Engineering at Bill Gates' TerraPower and now Chief of Engineering at Commonwealth Fusion.
